Great racing at the NEOCX finale today!

One note of NEOCX Series clarification. Due to a tie-breaker rules misinterpretation on my part (Gregg Brekke), I awarded first place to Matt Weeks in the prize ceremony. The true tie-breaker rules indicate that the person entering the series finale race with the highest points would be awarded the placement winner prize. Paul Martin entered the final race with a series points lead over Matt, thus he is the A-Men NEOCX Series winner.

Kudos to Matt for agreeing to the rules interpretation and kudos to Paul for splitting the series cash prize with Matt. Trophies were swapped and both went home with the same cash prize award ($300 each, instead of a $400/$200 split.) I’m confident that the true “spirit” of cyclocross was displayed in this exchange.

Paul and Matt, you are both great competitors and truly good sports – a testament to all other cycling competitors.

I’d like to extend my personal apologies to both racers and an acknowledgment of their commanding presences in the A-Men’s race of the NEOCX Series.

NEOCX 2011 Dates

Though the series organization got a late start this year it has been a great success. Plans are already underway for a bigger and better NEOCX Series in 2011 with expanded categories and a variety of new and existing venues.

Three dates have been reserved by Team Spin. Look for further details for what is promised to be premier “series within a series” and write in Sept. 18, 2011 (Wendy Park CX), Oct. 16, 2011 (Willoughby CX), and Nov. 13, 2011 (Location TBD).

Please, no dates before the Sept. 3/4 weekend and no dates after the Thanksgiving weekend (Ohio State championships are generally the last weekend in November.) Also, be aware that the UCI3 Cincinnati event has traditionally taken place the second weekend of October. No published dates are out yet, but I anticipate UCI3 Cincinnati will be held Oct. 7-9, 2011.

Here’s to continuing to grow a great NEOCX series in 2011!

Blue Sky (or Not!) CycloCross

Hey Everybody,

Looks like we’re in for some ‘cross-tastic weather for tomorrow’s race (11/14/2010) in Euclid. Chance of rain overnight – clearing up mid-morning – then 53-55 degrees for the races.

Click HERE for the race flyer.

Just got a note from Bill Gibson of Blue Sky Bicycles and he’s promising a great course. Come out and support this new venue – this is one of only TWO races left in the NEOCX series.

See you in the morning!

ANOTHER Series Update!

I received Willoughby CX results from Team Spin this morning and now have the most recent, up-t0-date, series listings posted!

As you can see, there are a lot of “series qualified” folks. At this point, if a racer hasn’t missed more than one of the races in the series, they are series qualified for prizes.

I’ll try to highlight series qualified racers (with 7 or more races) in the next update – the export function had trouble with that this time… Also remember that only the TOP 7 results count toward the overall – you can race 10 races, but only the top seven will be used in tabulating series results.

Series Update!

A series update – inclusive of the Chagrin River CX Challenge weekend – has been posted to the results page.

NOTE: No “braggin’ rights” agegroup results are included. Please remember, they don’t matter to the overall categories (A, B-men, B-women, C-open, C-junior.) I’m expecting results from the Willoughby CX Spectacular and will include the extra agegroup results in that full series update.
